Requirements
- Submission of new software is open to everyone, but a user account is required
- Product should be software/app-like so alternatives can be attached to it
Prepare before opening the form
- Email address for account registration
- Product name, website URL, and a clear description of what the software does
- Logo/icon and screenshots if the submission form offers uploads
- Knowledge of which existing alternative.me entries your product is an alternative to (helps categorization)
Workflow
- Register at https://alternative.me/signup/ with an email address
- Log in and open the account dashboard
- Click 'submit new software' and complete the entry form
- Manage or edit the submission later from the same dashboard
Watch for
- The how-to documents only the account + dashboard flow; the exact field list inside the submit form was not publicly visible without an account
- Separate 'Suggest Alternatives' flow exists for linking your product as an alternative to existing entries - don't confuse it with the new-software submission
- No paid submission route is advertised on the how-to page
What counts as live
The software has its own public entry page on alternative.me and appears in software/alternatives browsing
