What the free route requires
- Free basic membership exists, but any company/product mention is treated as advertising and is confined to signatures and designated areas (Marketplace/Classifieds, member blogs, intro thread)
- Only relevant for real-estate-adjacent products — the community is exclusively real-estate investing
Requirements
- Real-estate investing relevance — generic SaaS promotion has no home here
- No contact information (email, phone, social handles, website links) in forum posts — it must go in the signature instead
- No affiliate links anywhere on the site including signatures, blogs, messages
- Basic members may only private-message colleagues; PMs may never contain solicitations or links to your site
- Posts advertising your company, services or website outside the designated areas are edited/removed by moderators
Prepare before opening the form
- Profile photo and a genuine intro post (location, investing goals)
- Signature with website link — the only sanctioned place for it
- Real-estate-relevant value to contribute (deal analysis, market knowledge) before any promotion
Workflow
- Register a free account at biggerpockets.com/signup (use a browser — the site 403s automated fetches)
- Upload a profile picture and post an introduction in the welcome forum
- Set website/contact info in the signature, not in posts
- Contribute to real-estate threads; if the product is relevant to investors, promote only in the Marketplace/Classifieds or via member blog posts
- Paid tiers (Pro/Plus) expand private-messaging reach but do not relax the promotion rules
Watch for
- Aggressive moderation — posts with links/contact info are edited without notice
- PM solicitation rules are enforced even for Pro members — cold outreach with links can get messaging blocked
- Mentioning your company or what it does can itself be classified as advertising outside permitted areas
- Site blocks automated fetches — verify current rules in a browser before participating
