Conditional free route directory

Researched from public pages — no submission was run · sources read 2026-09-26. Rules change — recheck the platform's own pages before submitting.

What the free route requires

  • Profiles and leads are free, but the platform requires an active contractor license verifiable via state/licensing-board data — licensed contractors start with a BZ score of 90
  • Not applicable to SaaS/software — BuildZoom lists general contractors, remodelers and home builders; skip unless the 'product' is a licensed contracting business
  • A 2.5% referral fee applies to contracts won through the platform

Requirements

  • Active contractor license that BuildZoom can verify against public license-board data
  • Business name + zip code for the claim/add lookup — many contractors are pre-listed from public data
  • Referral agreement acceptance

Prepare before opening the form

  • License number and state
  • Business name, zip code, service radius, services offered
  • Portfolio photos and client reviews to build the BZ score

Workflow

  1. Open buildzoom.com in a browser and click 'Contractor Sign Up' (site 403s automated fetches)
  2. Search business name + zip: 'Claim this business' if pre-listed, else 'Add your business to BuildZoom'
  3. Enter email to join; verify contact info; add license details and portfolio
  4. Maintain the profile — BZ score (license status, reviews, responsiveness) drives lead flow

Watch for

  • No SaaS/software listing surface — licensed trades only
  • Unlicensed or lapsed-license businesses show a BZ score below 90 or can't be listed
  • Optional paid upgrades (~$99/mo advertising tier per third-party sources) exist but aren't required
  • The referral fee triggers only on signed contracts sourced via BuildZoom

What counts as live

A claimed public contractor profile on buildzoom.com showing license status and BZ score

Not verified

  • Verification turnaround for new adds without pre-seeded license data
  • Whether profile website links are present/dofollow
  • Current upgrade plan pricing (only a third-party ~$99/mo figure seen)
