What the free route requires
- Claiming and managing a listing is free, but the flow is gated behind an Auth0 account login
- Only meaningful for a real physical/local venue — the claim flow starts by searching for an existing venue by name/location
Requirements
- The business must exist (or be addable) as a Foursquare venue with a real-world location — this is a local-business directory, not a SaaS/product directory
- Claim requires signing into a Foursquare account (Auth0-based auth on business.foursquare.com)
- Verification/ownership checks apply to manage a venue listing
Prepare before opening the form
- Business name, address, phone, category, and hours
- A Foursquare/Auth0 account
- Proof of association with the venue if ownership is challenged
Workflow
- Open https://business.foursquare.com/ and use 'Search for your business on Foursquare' to find the venue
- If the venue exists, click through to claim it and sign in
- If the venue does not exist, add it via the consumer-side add-venue flow (foursquare.com app/site) first
- Complete the claim and manage listing details from the business dashboard
Watch for
- business.foursquare.com is a JS/Auth0 SPA — plain fetches return empty or 'auth0-spa-js must run on a secure origin' errors; requires a real browser session
- Poor fit for online-only SaaS: the catalog is venues (bars, restaurants, boutiques), so claiming a software product is not a legitimate route
- Paid upsells (Foursquare ads/promoted placement) exist but are not required to claim

The venue's public Foursquare page shows claimed/verified status and the managed details are visible to consumers

- Whether new venues can be added directly from business.foursquare.com or only via the consumer app
