Requirements

  • Free registered account required to add or edit profiles.
  • Registered users must additionally complete social authentication (connect LinkedIn/Facebook/Twitter, or Google) before adding profiles.
  • Search first — if the company already has an auto-generated profile, claim/edit it instead of creating a duplicate.
  • Company profile tone: 3rd person, no marketing language ('best', 'most comprehensive'), no dating language ('new' → 'launched April 2008').

Prepare before opening the form

  • Registered account (email or Google/LinkedIn) + at least one connected social account for authentication.
  • Company logo.
  • Founded date; headquarters location (use a business/registered address, not a home address).
  • Website URL and social media links.
  • Short and long company descriptions (3rd person).
  • Industries (3–5 recommended).
  • Founders, funding rounds, employees/board/advisors details for completeness.
  • Employee-count range; business contact email.

Workflow

  1. Register at crunchbase.com (Log In → Register tab) or via Google One Tap.
  2. Complete social authentication in Account Settings.
  3. Search for the company; if a profile exists use 'Claim'/Edit via Actions menu.
  4. Otherwise: Resources → Create Profile (or /add-new) → select Company → enter details → 'Save All Edits'.
  5. Fill overview fields (logo, website, socials, founded date, HQ, industries, founders, funding) to maximize Crunchbase Rank.

Watch for

  • Social authentication is a hard gate — a bare email registration cannot add profiles.
  • Profiles are editable by the community — monitor for unwanted edits.
  • Marketing language violates guidelines and can be reverted.
  • Paid subscriptions exist but are NOT required for a basic profile — avoid upgrade prompts.
  • Contact email may be publicly visible depending on settings.

What counts as live

A public crunchbase.com/organization/<slug> page reachable while logged out, showing the company overview fields.

Not verified

  • Whether new profiles go through any moderation delay before being publicly visible.
  • Current list of accepted social-auth providers.
