Conditional free route other
Researched from public pages — no submission was run · sources read 2026-09-26. Rules change — recheck the platform's own pages before submitting.
What the free route requires
- Account creation and listing are free for the first 250 listings per month; $0.35 insertion fee per listing after that
- A 10-15% final value fee is charged when an item sells — listing itself is free but the platform is fee-on-sale
- Selling requires verifying the account and setting up payment/payout details during the first listing flow
Requirements
- A physical/digital good to sell — eBay is a marketplace for items, not a product-launch directory; a SaaS product listing would need to fit eBay's allowed item categories
- Phone verification (call or text) during account setup for new sellers
- Payout method (bank account) to receive payments
Prepare before opening the form
- Item title with searchable keywords (brand, model, size), photos from multiple angles, condition notes
- Pricing decision: Auction vs Buy It Now, plus optional Best Offer
- Shipping plan (carrier choice, eBay discounted label, or Local Pickup)
- Phone for verification and bank details for payouts
Workflow
- Go to https://www.ebay.com/sl/sell and click 'Sell now' / 'List an item'
- Create/verify an eBay account (phone call or text verification) and set up payment information during the first listing
- Use the quick listing flow — enter what you're selling, accept/refine AI-suggested category, title, price
- Choose format (Auction or Buy It Now), set shipping, and publish the listing
- For a persistent brand presence, look at Business selling tools / eBay Stores subscription via 'Learn more' under 'Selling as a business'
Watch for
- Fee model: free to list (up to 250/mo) but 10-15% of final value on sale — a 'launch listing' here only makes sense for something actually sellable
- Listings are transactional and expire; not a durable directory profile unless running an eBay Store
- Prohibited/restricted items and IP rules apply
- An eBay Store subscription is a separate paid product — the free route is individual listings
What counts as live
A public item listing at ebay.com/itm/<id> (or a public Store page at ebay.com/str/<store>) reachable without login
Not verified
- Whether a digital/SaaS product can be listed compliantly and in which category
- eBay Store subscription pricing for a persistent storefront page
- Whether listing/profile links carry nofollow
