What the free route requires

  • Submission is free with a registered account, but admins hand-pick a small percentage of links for the main page — there is no guaranteed placement
  • All submissions appear in the TotalFark (paid subscriber) queue view regardless of approval
  • Fark is a funny/weird news aggregator — the link must be genuinely newsworthy or amusing with a witty custom headline; a SaaS launch announcement will almost never qualify

Requirements

  • Registered Fark account (email confirmation required before submitting)
  • A link that fits Fark's editorial mix: weird, funny, or notable news — not product promotion
  • A custom headline written by the submitter — the headline IS the listing

Prepare before opening the form

  • Confirmed Fark account
  • A genuinely newsworthy/amusing link (e.g. odd press coverage), plus a Fark-style witty headline
  • Review Fark's posting rules before submitting

Workflow

  1. Register and confirm an account at fark.com (site 403s automated fetches — use a browser)
  2. Click 'Submit a Link' and enter the URL plus the custom headline and a tag/category
  3. Submissions go to the queue visible to TotalFark subscribers; admins pick a small % for the public main page
  4. Resubmissions of rejected links with better headlines are a normal part of the culture

Watch for

  • Not a startup directory — a self-promotional product URL has near-zero approval odds and can flag the account
  • You don't need a paid TotalFark subscription to get approved, but paid users see all submissions
  • Link exposure is the linked story itself — Fark main-page links go to the external URL
  • Email confirmation is required before the submit form works

What counts as live

The submitted link with its custom headline appears on the Fark main page or a category page (admins' pick); weaker proof: visible in the TotalFark submissions queue

Not verified

  • Current approval rate and volume
  • Whether main-page outbound links are follow/nofollow
  • Account-age or karma requirements beyond email confirmation
