Requirements
- Tools must be useful to independent developers / solopreneurs — on-form notice: 'Every added tool will be reviewed before being published. Please make sure the tool is helpful to the indie dev community!'
- Account required: the Add-your-tool handler sends logged-out users to /login; registration at /register
- Listings are manually reviewed before publication — no instant listing
Prepare before opening the form
- Tool name and URL (placeholder format https://tool.com)
- Short description and long description (separate form fields)
- Logo image and a large/screenshot image (form has logo + largeImage uploads)
- Tags (free-input tag field) and a category pick from ~15 categories (AI, Development, SEO, Marketing, Launch, etc.)
Workflow
- Register / log in at https://indiedev.tools/login
- Click 'Add your tool' (goes to https://indiedev.tools/add-tool once authenticated)
- Fill name, URL, short + long description, upload logo and large image, set tags and category
- Submit; on success the site confirms 'Tool added successfully. It will be reviewed before being published.'
- Track the listing under /my-tools and /edit-tool/:id once published
Watch for
- Submissions can be temporarily closed — the form has an isSubmissionClosed state that hides the submit UI
- Hand-curated directory: low-fit or low-quality tools likely rejected
- Form is client-rendered (Vue) — needs JS; the /add-tool URL alone shows homepage content to logged-out crawlers
What counts as live
The tool gets a public /tool/<slug> page on indiedev.tools and appears in category listings after review
