Requirements

  • Games and game mods only — ModDB is a database of mods, indie games, addons, and downloads; a SaaS does not fit
  • Free member account — registration is members-only; account is shared with IndieDB, VRDB, and SlideDB
  • Register a game/mod/addon from the members area; a public profile page is created automatically
  • Profile includes About description, gallery, news posts, team list; customization possible (historically staff-approved CSS via [email protected])
  • moddb.com blocked automated fetch (403) — flow verified via official tutorials and archived pages

Prepare before opening the form

  • An actual game or mod project with media (screenshots/videos) and files to host
  • A member account
  • Profile copy: About description written for the audience

Workflow

  1. Register at moddb.com (or sign in via IndieDB/VRDB/SlideDB)
  2. From the members area, register the game/mod — the profile page is generated
  3. Fill the profile: About, gallery images, team members, news posts
  4. Upload files/addons through the members-only upload flow
  5. Engage via news posts — they surface to followers and the site feed

Watch for

  • Hard vertical restriction — games/mods only
  • All submission surfaces are login-gated; nothing public without an account
  • Some editing features may be buggy/archived per community threads — a dev 'group' may be needed to manage a profile
  • The network (IndieDB especially) is the better-known surface for indie games

What counts as live

The game/mod has a public profile page at moddb.com/<type>/<slug> with description, gallery, and downloads

Not verified

  • Current moderation queue for new profiles
  • Whether custom-CSS approval is still staffed
