Conditional free route profile

Researched from public pages — no submission was run · sources read 2026-09-26. Rules change — recheck the platform's own pages before submitting.

What the free route requires

  • Updating/correcting your firm's profile is explicitly free ('updating your firm's profile is free, and can be done at any time') — but a profile only exists if PitchBook's research process already tracks the entity (companies, investors, deals within their scope)
  • Getting a NEW profile created requires the 'Request Research' tool inside the platform or the public request flow — no self-serve directory submission
  • The catalog's stored URL (/sponsorship) is the advertising product, unrelated to profile presence

Requirements

  • Entity must be within PitchBook's tracking scope (private companies, investors, deals — a bootstrapped SaaS may not qualify until it raises funding or hits notability)
  • For existing profiles: 'Update this profile' button on the Public Profile Preview (verification required) or the in-platform Profile Update Tool
  • For missing entities: 'Request Research' (in-platform) asks the Data Operations team to research and add it
  • Corrections to existing data use the 'Data Feedback' button on the profile page
  • [email protected] is the published direct-assist email

Prepare before opening the form

  • Check whether a Public Profile Preview already exists for the company at pitchbook.com/profiles
  • Firm facts to submit: funding rounds, investors, employees, office locations, website, description — with supporting files (financials/quarterly reports welcome)
  • If no profile exists: assemble evidence of funding/deal activity — PitchBook profiles are research-driven, not self-published

Workflow

  1. Search the company on PitchBook's public profile previews
  2. If a preview exists: click 'Update this profile', complete verification, submit updates via the Profile Update Tool
  3. If no preview: use 'Request Research' (or pitchbook.com/request-your-pitchbook-profile) to ask Data Operations to create the profile
  4. Provide supporting documentation; Data Operations reviews and applies changes
  5. Track submission status in the profile dashboard (Profile Completion Score)

Watch for

  • Not a launch directory — PitchBook is a paid data platform; a profile is created/maintained by their research team, not by submission
  • Data sourced from reliable public sources generally won't be removed at your request
  • Full profile access is subscriber-only — the free tier is just updating your own data
  • Sponsorship/advertising pages (the catalog's stored URL) are a separate paid product

What counts as live

The company has a PitchBook profile (public preview visible at pitchbook.com/profiles/<company>)

Not verified

  • Minimum tracking-scope criteria for a pre-revenue SaaS to get a new profile
  • Turnaround on Request Research submissions
