Conditional free route community

Researched from public pages — no submission was run · sources read 2026-09-26. Rules change — recheck the platform's own pages before submitting.

What the free route requires

  • Requires a Reddit account; posting is free but each subreddit sets its own gates — many enforce minimum account age, karma thresholds, verified email, or flair requirements
  • Self-promotion is regulated per-community; many subreddits ban or restrict product promotion outright

Requirements

  • A Reddit account in good standing
  • Post must go into a specific community (subreddit); not all communities allow all post types (Post, Images & Video, Link, Poll)
  • Each community's rules (sidebar / About tab) govern format, self-promotion, and required flair — check them before posting
  • Creating a new community has an informal trust gate (account age, karma, verified email) per Reddit help documentation

Prepare before opening the form

  • Identify 2-3 relevant subreddits (e.g. r/SaaS, r/startups, niche communities) and read their rules and recent posts
  • Account with some history/karma — brand-new accounts posting links get filtered or removed
  • Post copy that fits each subreddit's format and tone; launch-day megathreads (e.g. 'Feedback Friday') exist in some subs
  • Product URL, short honest description, and any required flair

Workflow

  1. Create/verify a Reddit account and spend time participating in target communities
  2. Read the target subreddit's rules (sidebar on desktop, About tab on mobile)
  3. Click Create (top right) or 'Create a post' on the community page, choose post type (usually Link or Post)
  4. Add a descriptive title and body, apply required flair/tags, mark NSFW/spoiler if applicable
  5. Click Post; respond to comments promptly — engagement keeps the post visible
  6. Optionally cross-post or create your own subreddit for the product via reddit.com/subreddits/create

Watch for

  • Karma/account-age filters silently remove posts from new accounts — 'Why can't I see my post?' is a common failure mode
  • Aggressive self-promotion gets accounts flagged sitewide; Reddit's spam detection disfavors accounts that only post links to one domain
  • Moderators can remove posts without notice; some subs require pre-approval via modmail for promos
  • Links from Reddit are community-voted — a badly received launch post gets downvoted into invisibility, not just ignored

What counts as live

The post is publicly visible on the subreddit's listing (r//new) and has its own permalink comments page

Not verified

  • Exact karma/age thresholds per subreddit — moderators set these and they are not published
  • Whether a given subreddit's moderators will treat a product post as spam — judgement call, varies by community
