News route: create a Slashdot account, open slashdot.org/submission, submit the story link + summary; editors decide
Directory route: from slashdot.org/software/, click 'Add Your Software' and complete the vendor listing flow on the SourceForge platform
Directory listing, once live, appears at slashdot.org/software/p/<product>/ with ratings/reviews
Paid option: 'Software Advertising Options' link on the software page for sponsored placement

The news site and software directory are different products — don't confuse a story submission with a vendor listing
Catalog source lists slashdot.org over plain HTTP — use HTTPS
Slashdot Media shares the SourceForge back end — vendor onboarding may land you on sourceforge.net pages
Sponsored listings sort above organic ones in the directory ('Sponsored' sort default)
Story acceptance is at editor discretion — most submissions are rejected
